01. inspiration

I find inspiration from many things, books, movies, music - pretty much everything. I don’t have a set place where I get my ideas from, but if I had to pick it would be movies and TV shows. Horror movies are my all time favourite movies to watch. The way horror films are told is very cinematic and right up my alley. Horror movies have this powerful ability to make you feel eerie, shocked, surprised and relieved all at the same time! I was very inspired by American Horror story (AHS) when creating coven, I even named the collection after my favourite AHS series!

Inspiration is all around us and if you dare to look closer - it will take you on the biggest adventure of your life!

art

irisis

Over the years I have grown a love for art. Back in 2018 I visited the Getty Centre in Los Angeles. It was the very first time I saw one of Van Gogh’s pieces. It was the 'Irises' painted in 1889. To say I was mesmerised would be an understatement. For as long as I could remember the only associations I had of Van Gogh was that he cut off his ear to give to his lover. Now as I delved deep in research, I realise his artwork was a result of the darkness he had inside of him. I then fell in love with 'Starry Night' painted while he was in a sanatorium and created earrings inspired by this specific artwork. The core part of COVEN is the duality of light and darkness, how beauty is a result of our inner demons, a way for us to escape.

For the first time learning about Van Gogh, I realised we can all relate to his story.
